"The harder a wife works, the cuter she looks"
Yes, because all of the sweat from steaming your collared shirts, and tailored pants just gets your engines going. Or is it the rubber gloves and the smell of bleach that do it for you?
Isn't it wierd how TV moms from the 50's-70's were all perfectly dressed, with amazing hair and nails while they cooked, cleaned, and took care of the kids? No offense to the mothers out there, but that's impossible.

one must be careful when you examine images of the 1950s. it reminds me of the mythical 'american dream'. yes, this image has many sides of feminism and class as well as the absent of race. not all women were gudided by images like this, or tv shows like the 'donna reed show' and 'leave it to beaver'. the concern here, is the sterotype of wanting to model the so called ideal of perfection which leads to social stratification. -mC

the beijing summer olympic games are long since over, and the concerns of criticism, demonstrations, ceremonies, pollution concerns, acclaim and gold medals that swirled around china for months has subsided. in the process china's world image was changed. by deftly using the games to draw a symbolic line between its past and what the world must hope will be a brighter future, china managed to project itself globally as a nation reborn from poverty, war, revolution and self-inflicted catastrophe and to rebrand itself as an emerging superpower approaching fuqiang (wealth and power).
why is china always compared with the u.s.? has anyone checked the u.s.a's record of discrimination on many fronts? what about the mythical concept of so called 'democracy?' what about our the media? does it give us all the news fit to print?
