This blog is intended to be an extension of the NYC Lab School's sociology class. Post comments, articles, rants, and links to all things sociological!
Discuss. Debate. Enjoy.
I don't really care where you are in the world, I don't people should be having sex in public. I mean, that's just my personal belief. As for it being in Dubai, I understand that you may not be aware of not being able to hold hands or kiss in public but I feel as though if you know you're going to be in the Middle east, you should know that they would be against people having sex in public. I do think that Dubai should make these rules aware to travelers. The article stated that they detained a number of people for topless sunbathing and nudity. I feel that if this is in the hotel ( a private institution), they can do that, if the hotel wants it. I think that it's just common sense to not do something like this. Also, I was thinking about what this says about Europe or America itself. I mean, does this show that we are sex-obessessed nations.
i agree with Bibi. Sex in public isn't okay across the board. I don't think it's a culture clash, it's just poor judgement on these people. I don't really think it says that we're sex obsessed nations. But maybe it says that we (or at least some British people) are more open or willing to risk-take when it comes to their sexual tendencies.
